Your first tattoo in Laredo
First tattoos are a big deal, and a private studio is a good place to get one. Here is what to expect, start to finish.
Picking the design
Start with what it means to you, not what is trending. Save a few references you like and bring them. Andrew draws every design for the client, so you do not need a finished drawing, only a direction.
Picking the placement
For a first tattoo, the forearm, upper arm, outer thigh and calf are popular: easy to see, easy to care for, and usually less sore than ribs, feet or hands. Think about work, how often you want to see it, and whether it might grow into a bigger piece later.
What the day looks like
Eat a real meal, drink water, and skip alcohol the night before. Wear clothes that give easy access to the spot. You will see the stencil on your skin before any ink goes in, and you can move it until it sits right. Then it is just breathing through it. Small pieces are usually done in one short visit.
Does it hurt?
Some. Most people describe it as a hot scratch that gets easier after the first few minutes. Bony and thin-skinned areas feel sharper. You can take breaks.
Good first tattoos
Small, clean pieces that make a strong first tattoo.
